Lack of Motivation at Work – What Are the Reasons?

Lack of Motivation at Work – What Are the Reasons?

48% of employees around the world don’t like their jobs and lack of motivation at work is one of the main reasons. That is alarming indeed, but if we look closer and dig deeper, we find that there are hidden causes beneath the lack of motivation rug.

In this post, we’ll address them.

Reasons For Lack of Motivation at Work

1. Not being able to get your idea across the board

Companies tend to listen to their employees. However, the tough get tougher for those employees who are not listened to. Their ideas are constantly subjected to sieves and red tapes until they find no passion for trying to bring a positive change in their workplace.

If this is your case, know that your ideas are worthy and that you need to persevere to be heard. Or if you are an owner of a company, please keep unnecessary rules at bay.

2. Lost direction

Employees tend to lose motivation when they find that their company is going in the wrong direction. In such cases, they completely or partially lose their confidence in their bosses until their productivity level tumbles down.

As an employee, if this happens, you should go with the flow and maintain your workflow. As an owner, if you think this is the cause, start taking some bold decisions to mend your company’s ways.

3. Loss of communication

Open office floors are in fashion because they allow greater communication to take place between the employees on a daily basis. While that could keep their nerves active, what really motivates them to go forward is the apt communication between an employee and the owner.

Maintain a robust communication with your employees if you want them to do whatever there is for the sake of productivity. Shower some good words, value their work. And if you are an employee, make sure you’re heard. Take your projects personally to the head’s office and look for chances where you could communicate with him or her.

4. Venomous coworkers

A workplace derives its pleasantness from the way coworkers see each other. If there are enmities between them over pushing papers and competing unnecessarily, then there’s a problem for everyone.

As an owner, you’ve to make sure there are no groupings among your employees. If there are some, one way to dissolve them is taking all of them on a retreat or involving them in a joint activity.

If you’re an employee, you can always raise the issue with the HR. There’s nothing more important than surreal workplace and understanding coworkers.

5. Low self-efficacy

This happens to a lot of employees and chances are you might be experiencing this, too. A lack of self-efficacy can result in low to no motivation at all. It is not hard to understand as you can’t really work when you think you’re inefficient or insufficient for it.

To tackle this, always grow your skills and remember that failure would only push you forward. You really don’t know if you’re not for something when you don’t try it.

As an employer, you can always invest in making your employees more capable to fend off lack of motivation at work because of incompetence.

Tips for Healing Emotional Pain

emotional pain depressed man

Emotional pain often takes much toll on the quality of life than physical pain. The stress and damaging emotions accompanying any frustrating event can even cause bodily pain and illness.

In actual fact, emotional stress is related to health complications including chronic inflammation, increased blood pressure, lowered immune function, increased tumor growth, altered brain chemistry and more.

Of course, emotional agony can be very severe that it will affect your capability to enjoy life and, in dangerous cases, may even force you to question if your life is worth anything.

Let Go of Rejection

Rejection actually triggers the same paths in your head as physical pain, which is a major reason why it hurts a lot. The sentiment of rejection toys with your inherent need to belong, and is so disturbing that it impedes your capability to recall memories, think and make decisions. The sooner you get rid of painful rejections, the better for your mental health will be.

Stop Brooding over what is Gone

When you brood, or ruminate, over something hurt, the memories you echo in your mind only turn out to be increasingly upsetting and cause more fury – without making available any new visions. Basically, while thinking about a painful event can allow you to reach closure or understanding about it, ruminating only increases your anxiety levels, and can really be addictive.

Ruminating on a traumatic incident can also increase the levels of C-reactive protein, a sign of inflammation in the body associated to cardiovascular disease.1

Turn Failure into Something Positive

If you continue to feel high and dry after a letdown, or blame it on your bad luck or inability, it’s likely to reduce your self-confidence. Blaming a disappointment on particular factors within your control, like preparation and execution, is expected to be less hurtful, but even healthier is concentrating on ways you can progress and be better cognizant or equipped so you can do well on next occasion (and attempt once more, so there is a next time).

Make Sure Remorse Remains a Beneficial Emotion

Guilt can be positive because it can discourage you from doing something that may hurt another person (making it a solid “relationship guard”). But guilt that hang on or is too much can weaken your ability to concentrate and appreciate life.

If you still feeling guilty after saying sorry for a wrongdoing be sure you have conveyed empathy to them and let them know that you realize how your actions affected them. This will probable lead to true forgiveness and respite for your remorseful feelings.

Use Self-Affirmations if You Have Low Self-Esteem

While positive statements are brilliant tools for emotive health, if they fall out of the limits of your principles, they may be ineffectual. This can be the cause of situation people with low self-esteem find themselves, for whom self-esteem may be more useful. Self-confidence, such as “I have a good work ethic,” can help to strengthen positive abilities you think you have.

Hello world!

The story of my night

22:00 Because of a hard week I had I decided that I want to do something for the community and also to find a way how to reach my goals NOW. That is how one night challenge came to mind. I gave myself a goal that over this night I will do all I can to spread my message viral and find people that will motivate me to reach my goal and I will do the same for them.

22:10 I tried calling a couple of friends to find someone that would join me in this journey but everybody was doing something (It’s Friday night) but everybody was supportive as they could be and they gave me a lot of advice how I should proceed.

23:00 I went for a walk with my dog and listened to this (it always helps me think and motivates me more). And I came back with a plan.

23:15 I understood that I have to do everything by myself and started doing research whether there is anything like this. I was surprised that there is none (.com domain was taken by some religious people so I bought onenightchallenge.net).

I had to document everything in some kind of a way and made a little research how to stream. Decided to go with Twitch. Downloaded some recording app.

Decided not to go with Twitch. Let’s go Youtube!

24:00 I start creating a webpage.

01:00 Facebook page and Youtube channel are created. I post on my FB and LinkedIn “One Night Challenge has begun..”.

02:00 Made a video about One Night Challenge (I had to take a few takes). I will market this video via Adwords video marketing. The webpage is online.

03:00 Teach myself how to edit a video and I started doing Marketing phase.

04:00 Adwords account, campaign creating. Have to wait for the video to be approved.

05:00 Go to sleep for a few hours.

08:00 Wake up with a thought that such a shitty low quality video will not be approved by Google but happy to see that it is approved. Game on. I give myself a deadline for the stream to start. Finnish video marketing campaign and it’s ready to roll whenever I put money in it.

10:00 Coffee and planning on what to do next. Decide that there has to be some kind of blog post that would also document what I am doing so I start creating THIS post. I feel happy about on looking back on what I have accomplished this night already. Think whether I should have feel bad about going to sleep for a few hours and One Night Challenge looses it’s meaning if I didn’t do it over night. But decide that is a stupid thought to stop and I have to do what I started.

11:00 I’m trying to post this article and put it somewhere on the page.

11:42 I start marketing and telling everyone I know what I am doing. Right now after i press update. And I will do it all the time till the stream is Live. I hope there will be at least some people at the stream.. 🙂

13:00 Stream is live! YAY!

16:00 I made contact from people around the world. There were not a load of people, but I reached somebody 🙂

16:30 I end my One Night Challenge.

I will not stop here! Let’s motivate each other! I had a lot of great words from the people I contacted and I hope we can help each other to do what we crave!

NOW I CHALLENGE YOU TO SHARE WHAT YOU ARE PLANNING TO DO AND DO IT! LET’S MOTIVATE EACH OTHER!

Please Share this to your friend and show that there are more crazy people like you and me and we all are capable of huge things. It only takes one night to do something.
